This page is dedicated to Games Workshop’s fantasy board-game, "Talisman." Talisman has seen at least three revisions since it’s release. I personally have never played nor even seen the 1st edition (considering how difficult it is to get the 3rd edition, I wouldn’t be surprised if the 1st edition is nearly impossible to find). By sheer luck and dedication, my girlfriend was able to land me a copy of the 3rd edition at a game shop in Naperville, Illinois, and by an even greater stroke of luck, I was able to find a copy of the 2nd edition with all of the add-ons (Talisman: Dungeon, Talisman: City, Talisman: Timescape) included at Third Planet Games in Houston, Texas.

The premise of "Talisman" is simple; players choose a character that has a certain amount of magical/psychic ability and a certain amount of physical strength as well as a number of special abilities, and then travel all around the Talisman world in an attempt to find the fabled "Crown of Command" that rests within the center region of the board. Throughout their quest, they encounter monsters, spirits, strangers, places, objects and followers, and may trigger certain events which may or may not be beneficial to them. Before venturing into the center region, the players each need to find a Talisman in order to breach the central treasure chamber where the Crown of Command rests, presuming that it isn’t guarded by the Dragon King or Demon Lord, or hasn’t been replaced by the Belt of Herculese or Pandora’s Box. Should the unwary adventurer fall into the Black Void... well, such are the perils of adventuring.

Playing a complete game of Talisman usually takes several hours, thought games as short as less than an hour, or as long as five to seven hours, are not unheard of. Players that try to build up their characters usually spend several hours doing so, while a tricky and lucky character might warp directly to the center space and potential victory in as few rounds as it takes them to reach the end of the Dungeon add-on. With both the 2nd and 3rd edition card combined (as I have them) there are many, many different ways to finish the game.

This page will, in the future contain links to other Talisman pages (if I can find any), post new characters created by myself and by other Talisman fans, and might even contain suggestions for future add-ons (there’s an add-on for the City space on the board, but why no add-on for the Village?). Since Talisman, even in it’s most recent manifestation, is no longer in print, player suggested characters and add-ons are the only way to expand the scope of this game. If you have any characters, add-on ideas, or even new rules or new interpretations on rules, mail them to me, and I’ll consider them for posting.
