Home... Mega-Talisman Mega-Talisman is they we usually play Talisman. If you look at the community there are a lot of really good and interesting expansions and add-ons and its a shame to not use them or limit yourself to just a few of them. But the ordinary game rules was not designed to support this expanded environment so I looked out to the community to come up with a solution to play the game the way I wanted it to work, with a lot of added extras. I found some ideas and expanded those to suit my own style of gaming and Mega-Talisman was born. Today we play with so many expansions and boards that we cant even fit them onto four desks put together. Some may find this totally unplayable, not fun and even frightening but we love it. How do we do it? Well, the changes are few but the style is greatly changed. First we always set a time limit to the game, which usually is in the vicinity of 9-12 hours. Then every player is handed a points chart. The game could well end before the limit runs out since we still keep the rule that you can win the game using the ordinary rules (and those from expansions like Tournament and Atlantis). But, and this is the important part, the winner is not necessarily the one finishing the game. The winner is player who has accumulated the most points during the game. If you look at the points chart you see that you get points for visiting expansions and more points if you achieve important stuff related to the expansion. This encourages exploration and creates a frantic need in players to travel and really experience all the fun and dangerous ways. True, the physical interaction of characters will shrink a lot. Still, when new pathways open up most players will try to walk that way sometimes creating a crowd. This will to some look like there are several players playing a solo version of Talisman, and that might be trough but we take great joy in the atmosphere of the game and enjoy watching strange and interesting things happening to other players as they explore the world of Talisman. I hope this information has encouraged you to try our Mega-Talisman way of playing. Below you will find all the documents you need to smooth your play. All you have to do now is download and print all the expansions. Documents used Scorecard (41 kb) This is the card every player should have one copy of to keep track of the points earned throughout the games session. How to change board (94 kb) For many novice players the sheer volume of boards becomes a burden and they will forget how they are able to move from one expansion to another. This document will both describe how to get to and from every expansion we use and the most important rules for them.Flags (276 kb) This is a ZIP file with pictures you can use to create small flags. Use the HTML document to print them. I glue them to matchsticks and put them to a cardboard base so that they can stand. I use them to indicate on all the board where there is a passage to another board. This visual remainder is a great way to help people remember where the can change board. Where you have to end your move I use the flag as it is, where you can continue your move without a stop I cut the end of the flag to a pointed arrow.Where to put the flags (32 kb) This is the PDF document telling you where to put the flags, sparing you the trouble of flipping through all those rule pages to find the information.Character Sheet (424 kb) A scan of the offical charactersheet.Extended Character Sheet (1106 kb) If you got the space you can use this sheet to keep track of your counters, tokens and killed enemies..
Of course, we used other non-board expansions too like Contracts, Mystic Brew and Transformations. |
