*EDIT*
Due to the fact that there is now an OFFICIAL boxed expansion that uses the name The Lost Realms, I have changed the name of this project to The Realms of Legend and have remade some of the files to replace any images that use that particular name.
To remove any doubt, the OFFICIAL expansion is a collection of the two Print on Demand expansions, The Nether Realm & The Deep Realms (coincidentally also designed by me!), and both of the UNOFFICIAL expansions – The Realms of Legend & The Realms Untravelled – have been collected with a similar box that is named The Realms of Adventure!
It’s been a busy couple of weeks, what with personal commitments and a nasty bout of illness, but I’ve been busy chipping away at things that need finishing up before we can get this expansion tested!
As discussed on the forums, I decided on the final Forge item, and tweaked it so that it fits well with the theme. Morak’s Hammer also received an update as it did not have a standard use so that should make it a bit more desirable. This gives us a nice range of Object types in the Forge deck, with a goodly assortment of effects and discard requirements.
I’ve updated a few cards to the latest text style introduced in The Cataclysm expansion, and have added a bonus effect to each of the Trail cards to make them a lot more interesting to encounter.
After starting on the rules sheets for the expansion, I noticed a potential problem with the wording of the Wayfinder Compass, so have explicitly included Trails in the wording for the bonus effect.
It’s been a pretty cool experience going through the rules and tweaking what is needed while keeping an eye on the space available. I think they are in a pretty good place, but bear in mind that if something needs to be added, it is entirely likely that something else will have to be removed to keep the requisite number of rules sheets.
I’ve included some placeholder images to help finish off the look of the rules, which will be replaced when we have the final files to hand.
The images below are bigger than they appear on the page, so if you open them in a new window you can read or print them to check them out. If you see any glaring omissions or subtle errors, please let me know.
Cookierobber is still working on the templates in his spare time, though that seems to be a bit scarce of late (I know the feeling!) though hopefully the next update won’t be too far away.
Also outstanding is the artwork for the Gauntlet of Peace, Ring of Denial and possibly the Black Iron Key to be redone, along with the card backs for the Realm cards.
I’ve found a suitable image for the cover art, which fits the expansion theme well, to save the need to add that to the mix, so that should take a bit of pressure off.
Oh, and you will have noticed that The Lost Realms is still being used! I do think it is a snappier title, and like that it also refers to the fact that this expansion was sadly “lost” to the community because of the recent goings on.
So, it’s all going well, even though there is less news to post about during these final weeks.
