*EDIT*
Due to the fact that there is now an OFFICIAL boxed expansion that uses the name The Lost Realms, I have changed the name of this project to The Realms of Legend and have remade some of the files to replace any images that use that particular name.
To remove any doubt, the OFFICIAL expansion is a collection of the two Print on Demand expansions, The Nether Realm & The Deep Realms (coincidentally also designed by me!), and both of the UNOFFICIAL expansions – The Realms of Legend & The Realms Untravelled – have been collected with a similar box that is named The Realms of Adventure!
There’s been a little bit of progress over the last week, following on from sanityismyvanity‘s forum post with some suggestions for a mechanic to add to the expansion, much like the Trap cards from The Deep Realms.
The idea was that there could be various Trail cards added to the deck, each with a die roll similar to the Crags and Forest from the main board.
The effects for the cards can be tweaked as necessary, but I think they are in a pretty good state at the moment.
I agree that removing the Felclaw from the deck is a good idea, but not for the reason outlined on the forum. I just think it is not particularly thematic, although it is taken from The Highland expansion.
As I have added a new Elemental to the mix, using the art for Vulcan, I thought I would add in a similar Strength-based card to replace the Felclaw and have chosen the Rock Mauler.
I’m in two minds about adding the pair of “Raider” cards to the deck, they do match the Outlaw/Wildlands theme, but it will all depend on card numbers in the end.
We now need to find another three Forge cards to use, though not necessarily Weapons (which reminds me, I must make Morak’s Hammer into a Weapon…) I did find some nice CC artwork of a shield, but the image just didn’t fit right into the template, so if you have an idea for an item of Armour it would be good.
The Peacock Dragon and the Iron Sentinel also need fleshing out, though they do not have to be used. I just fancied making a Sentinel similar to the ones from The Sacred Pool, but the same mechanic wouldn’t work if the cards are to be shuffled into the deck. I wonder if the Sentinel might be placed on the Valley of Fire or something when it is discovered, like Cerberus?
Anyway, feel free to comment in the discussion thread, or email me if you don’t frequent the Fantasy Flight Games forums.
