I posted this recently over on the Talisman Island Facebook Page, but am just going to C&P here with a few amendments as to be frank, it is very difficult for me to be ‘creative’ with what needs to be said.
I’ve been dreading posting about it really because, not only are the circumstances surrounding the auction very sad, but having met Jean-Marie and the fact that I consider him a friend brings it a lot closer to home.
Jean-Marie Baveux is a former French Marine Corps soldier and war veteran and father of two daughters, Lola (15yo) and Danaé (13yo).
He is a former game designer and writer, long-time collector of games, statues and other collectable and a huge Talisman fan, gamer and collector since 1983.
He also has Merkel Cell Carcinoma and it is very likely that he will not survive.
What he wants to do is liquidate some of his assets and put money aside for his two daughters, as it’s likely that he will not be able to provide for them in the future.

For starters, take a look at the auction which will take place at 11am on the 9th of June 2019 – Jean-Marie’s lots are numbered from 606 to 632 – and then get yourself registered on the site as you will need a bit of lead time to confirm payment details etc.

The lots include four examples of original Talisman cover art from The Reaper, The Dungeon, The Woodland and The Harbinger expansions by Ralph Horsley, all historical and legendary Legend of the Five Rings CCG Bayushi Kachiko original paintings by Matthew D. Wilson, L5R, Magic: The Gathering and Dungeon & Dragons original art by Brian Snoddy, R.K Post and Chris Seaman will be auctioned, as well as very rare board games & RPGs, including an original Gen Con edition copy of the Dune: Chronicles of the Imperium RPG by Last Unicorn Games plus an ultra limited edition copy of Mythgardia and its expansion by Bob Harris.
I’ll probably be spamming this a little bit over the next month, but this needs as much coverage as possible, so if you know of any groups that might be interested in anything that he has for auction, then please share it!
